They are widely regarded as the most cycle-savvy capital city in the world.
So the police of Amsterdam were quick to take Chris Brown in on Friday when he failed to add license plates to his brand new dirt bikes for a ride around the city.
Reprimanded in a local station and facing another fine, the 27-year-old luckily saw the funny side and took to Instagram to share his side of the story. In a video explaining the events, he began: ‘So, we’re in Amsterdam, we’re in the police station. We got to pay this damn fine. Man, didn’t have no tags.’
The comical video sees the rapper up close with the camera, lowering his voice as he narrates from inside the police station.
He followed it up with a warning to children, dismissing his behaviour for its stupidity before saying that he had learned to respect the local authorities. ‘Public service announcement kids,’ he joked. ‘Do not ride bicycles in Amsterdam without license plates. Sorry we just bought the bikes, I forgot about the license plate. ‘So we’re handling the situation as is. But the police are actually really nice about it. I actually like the police out here.’
And he proved it, when he laughed and joked with the forces in a new snap accompanying the string of updates. It shows him being handcuffed by the ‘Politie’ bureau while the other servicemen and women – dressed in full uniform – smile in a group for the keepsake photo.
It’s the second time this week that the singer has taken to social media to explain his run-in with the law.
Last weekend, Chris posted a video on Instagram to vehemently deny claims that he assaulted a fan when hosting a night at Cannes’ Gotha nightclub last month.
The 27-year-old star used the social media platform to defend himself, and claimed that it was in fact the Loyal hit-maker himself who was physically provoked.
Sharing his side of the story with his 27.3 million Instagram followers, he began: ‘Let me address this s**t real fast.
‘I’ll let you know this, before the tour started, one hell of a tour by the way, it’s going amazing, loving all of my fans everywhere, we went to Cannes Gotha, that’s a nightclub.
