Rappers Mun*G and Big tril earlier on today started a campaign as to why the hip-hop genre wasn’t recognized. Mug G, who tweeted #SomeoneTellUEAwards16 that #UgHipHop is a big genre in #Uganda and it misses on their list.
The Uganda Entertainment Awards committe was quickly to react to this via their Facebook as quoted below;
“Just to clear the air the management and nomination committee will be releasing the HIP HOP CATEGORY Nominees on 19th July 2016. Just like in 2015 we decided to release these nominees a month to the event exceptionally.
This is a decision that was taken last year for various reasons. We have received all your concerns and we confirm to you that these nominees have not been forgotten but the time for the release hasn’t come yet. We thank you for your attention and remarkable feed back”
