Two lesbian couples Namutebi Sumayiya and Nalwanga Dora are on the run after being attacked by an angry mob. The reason for the clashing was after the residents of Kawempe Tula found out that the two, who are in their mid 20s are lesbians, an act that is not allowed in Uganda.

Recently, the President of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni signed the anti-gay bill that prohibits LGBT activities in Uganda. It is said that for long, Namutebi and Nalwanga have been acting as a couple and when the law was passed against LGBT, the people of Kawmpe decided to gang up on the two.

It was on Friday evening at one of the bars in Kawempe when chaos erupted and according to eye witnesses, there is a group of people in Kawempe who said they are going to deal with anyone promoting and taking part in LGBT activities.

After escaping the hands of the angry mobbed and being rescued by the security of the bar, the angry mob said they won’t let these gay people walk freely in their community. Since then, Namutebi and Nalwanga have been on the run as they fear for their lives that is in danger and no one, not even their close families know about their whereabouts.
