In a shocking turn of events, celebrated Ugandan musician Moses Matovu has made the decision to resign from the Musicians Federation of Uganda (MFU), citing empty promises and an incompatible working environment as the key reasons behind his departure.

Matovu, known for his exceptional saxophone skills and influential contributions to the Ugandan music scene, has been an integral part of the federation since its start. However, recent disillusionment has led him to sever ties with the organization, sparking concerns about its ability to address the needs and aspirations of its members.

Matovu’s decision to quit the MFU stems from a sense of deep disappointment caused by what he perceives as empty promises made by the federation. Despite assurances of supporting musicians in their careers, enhancing their welfare, and advancing the music industry in Uganda, Matovu claims that little has been done in practice. The lack of tangible progress on critical issues such as fair compensation, copyright protection, and better working conditions for musicians has left him disheartened.
