Dinamo Bukarest’s Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng has died- after collapsing on the pitch, during a league game in Romania this evening. He was 26 years old. Ekeng had been on the pitch for only seven minutes, when he collapsed. It is suspected he suffered a heart attack. Ekeng, 26, fell to the ground shortly after coming on as a 62nd-minute substitute during a league match against Viitorul Constanta, his club said in a statement on their website

Ekeng’s former club Cordoba tweeted: “We have no words to express our sadness at the loss of Patrick Ekeng. We mourn your loss.“Ekeng had also previously played for Le Mans and Lausanne.

One fan commented “What is really going on with Cameroonian footballers collapsing and dying on pitches? The last time Vivien Foe died the same way. Some serious investigations are needed. RIP though.”
