ELECTRICITY REGULATORY AUTHORITY (ERA) INCREASES POWER TARIFFS

ERA announced an increase in power tariffs to 17% for all consumers mainly because of increase in inflation and depreciation of the Shilling in the last quarter. In a press statement, ERA said that the overall impact of the adjustment factors is a weighted – average increase of 17.4% in the end-user retail tariffs relative to the third quarter of 2015. Domestic consumers will pay sh667.4 from sh 558.4 ; small commercial will pay sh604.6sh from you: medium-sized industrial will pay sh567 from sh483 and large consumers will pay sh381.1 with an extra tariff of 15.9%. The new tariffs take effect this month and will hold until the end of year.
